The ST-2000XM CCD Camera

Here is our newest CCD camera.  With this camera we are able to photograph the sky through any one of our three telescopes - the 14" in the observatory, the 8" portable and the 5" portable.  The size of the CCD array is 11.8 x 8.9 mm.  It has 1600 x 1200 pixels and each pixel is 7.4 x 7.4 µm.

The camera worked very well in taking pictures of the transit of Venus on June 4, 2004 and in taking picture of Comet Holmes in October, 2007.

The pictures below where taken with this CCD camera from the Santa Barbara Instruments Group (SBIG).  Click on each of them to see a larger image.
