Following the Friday evening talk there will be a demonstration of the new 20-inch telescope in the Requarth Observatory.

  • "Progress in Material Science", Ian Robertson, Department of Material Science and Engineering, University of Illinois, Urbana, Saturday at 10:00 am.

Workshop 1.  "PTRA Rural Institute - Microcomputer Labs: LabPro and LoggerPro" - Friday 9-12 and Saturday 1-4, Bernard Ricca, DePaul University School of Education - Barat Campus, Tom Holbrook, University High School, Illinois State University and Carl Wenning (facilitator), Illinois State University.
Workshop 2.  "A Web-based Prep Course for Calculus Physics" - Friday 10-noon, Gary Gladding, University of Illinois, Urbana.

Contributed papers are scheduled on Friday afternoon from 2:15 to 3:30 and from 4:45 to 6:00.
On Saturday morning they are scheduled from 9:00 to 10:00 and from 11:00 to 12:15.
Dr. Ralph Miller, Professor Emeritus of Physics at Greenville College,
will be honored on Friday evening with the 2002 Distinguished Service Citation.
The Council has a regular meeting scheduled for Saturday morning at 7:00 am.  President Kelly Roos
has announced that the Council will also have a planning meeting at noon on Friday.
There will be a general meeting of the section during the lunch hour on Saturday.

Parking will be available next to the Leighty-Tabor Science Center in the Kirkland parking lot.  You may also park in the lot across Fairview Avenue with access from West Main Street.  Millikin will be on Fall break so parking will not be a problem.
