Membership Listserv
Illinois Section of ISAAPT

A listserv is available for ISAAPT members and other Illinois physics teachers who are interested.  It will be used to keep members informed about some of the many physics happenings (e.g., summer workshop and meeting announcements, etc.) here in Illinois and nationwide.

In general, a listserv is an electronic discussion forum.  Messages sent to the group address are broadcast to all members of the group via e-mail.  Groups can be moderated or unmoderated, meaning that messages and participant subscriptions may or may not be subject to an approval process, depending on the choice of the group and its manager.  The ISAAPT listserv is unmoderated.

Initially, the e-mail list for the Illinois Section was used to populate this listserv.  In particular, if you were one of the 204 physics teachers who received an e-mail from Dave Renneke on Aug. 21, 2006 with the subject "News of ISAAPT", your e-mail address was automatically entered in this listserv.

As a member, you may send an e-mail message to everyone on the list by sending it to

 isaapt-l@ilstu.edu

If you are not on this list but wish to subscribe to it, send the following message to listserv@ilstu.edu, being certain to turn off your signature before sending:

SUBSCRIBE isaapt-l

If you wish to unsubscribe from the ISAAPT membership listserv, send the following message to listserv@ilstu.edu, being certain to turn off your signature before sending:

SIGNOFF isaapt-l

You need not include your name or e-mail address in either case; that will be picked up from your message header.

If you have any difficulty, please check with the listserv manager, Carl Wenning.

At the national level, listservs have been established on a variety of topics:

Physics First - discuss the pros and cons of teaching Physics First in high school
Teacher Preparation Coalition - for exchanging information on the preparation of K-12 teachers
Powerful Ideas in Physical Science - for those who are using the PIPS materials
Two-year College Physics - if you wish to discuss issues related to teaching physics at a two-year college
New Faculty - communicate with those who attend the annual New Faculty Workshop
