Alton (15-25 minutes east of Principia)
Fast food restaurants (Burger King, Captain D's, Fazoli's (pasta), Kentucky Fried Chicken, McDonalds, Papa John's Pizza, Wendy's, etc.) are located on Hwy 3/111, near Alton Square, Super 8, Holiday Inn, Comfort Inn, and Days Inn.

Midtown (1026 E. Seventh) - Fair to good food. Located in older part of town. Piano music of "Golden Oldies" accompanies dinner.

Moonlight (1 Mile North of Rt 140 on Fosterburg Road - Excellent food, but often crowded. Lunch and dinner.

Pasta House (Alton Square on Route 3) - Franchise restaurant; pasta.

Red Lobster (Alton Square on Route 3) - Franchise restaurant; seafood.

Tony's (312 Piasa) - Good pasta, steaks, etc. Full menu, dinner only. Located in downtown Alton near the river at Piasa and 3rd Street.

Elsah (5 minutes from campus)
Campus Dining Room - Fair to good food, reasonably priced.

My Just Desserts - Good homemade casseroles, salads, sandwiches and desserts. Lunch and early dinner only. Located in historic building on LaSalle Street (on west side of town) near the river.

Grafton (10 minutes west of Principia)
Brainerd's - Fair to good food, simple menu. Breakfast, lunch and early dinner. Located on the north side of the main street two to three blocks from the eastern edge of town.

The Fin Inn - Fair to good food served in environment of fish aquariums. Specializes in catfish. Lunch and dinner only. Located on the north side of the main street near the west end of town.

Elsah Landing - Good homemade soups, sandwiches, desserts. Lunch and early dinner only. Located in historic house on the north side of the main street on the east side of town.

Pere Marquette Lodge - Fair to good food in comfortable lodge setting. Breakfast, lunch and dinner. Specializes in family-style fried chicken and catfish. Excellent Sunday buffet. Located about five miles beyond Grafton in Illinois' largest State Park.

Jerseyville (15-20 minutes north of Principia)
Fast food restaurants (Burger King, Hardee's, Imo's Pizza, Kentucky Fried Chicken, McDonalds, Sonic, etc.) are located on Hwy 267 (State Street) near intersection with Hwy 109.

518 South (518 South State) - Fair to good food. Lunch and dinner only. Located on main street near Hwy 109 in Victorian home converted to restaurant.

Fran & Marilyn's (113 S. State) - Home cooking in simple setting. Breakfast, lunch and dinner. Located in the heart of town.
