"A Taste of the Modeling Method of Teaching Physics" Rex Rice Debbie Rice |
Physics education research indicates that actively engaging students in the learning process is critical to the effectiveness of physics education. The Modeling Method of Teaching Physics is a program that is based on such research and is consistent with the recommendations of the National Science Standards. This workshop is designed to give you a taste of how this method works by engaging you in the modeling process.
When asked about their room requirements for this workshop, Rex replied, "We need a room that can be thoroughly darkened. We would like to turn the room into a Camera Obscura by cutting off all light to the room except that which could enter through about a 2-cm diameter hole in a cover to an exterior window. We would like to project the image on a screen."
