Thursday, April 17, 2003 There
will be a tour of the research facilities of the Advanced
Photon Source at Argonne National Lab and Fermilab
National Accelerator Lab on Thursday, April 17, 2003. The tour
starts at 10:00 am at the Visitor Reception Center at

In order to visit Argonne it is required that they have the names and social security numbers at least one week in advance. Fermilab also needs the names in advance. If you plan to go, please notify Karen Andeen (karen-andeen@augustana.edu) by Thursday, April 10, giving her the required information. To learn about the APS in advance of the field trip, come to the public lecture sponsored by Sigma Xi, "Basic Concepts of Accelerators and Synchrotron Radiation", by Dr. David Williams and John Kulpin of Argonne National Lab on April 10 at 7:00 pm in Science 102. The guided tour at Fermilab begins in Wilson Hall and consists of a video presentation followed by an opportunity to view the Laboratory from the 15th floor windows and to visit the various displays located there. The tour then moves to the Linear Accelerator Building where visitors have the opportunity to see the Cockcroft-Walton, the components in the linear accelerator gallery and the Main Control Room. Check out the games of the Fermilabyrinth. |
