- The next meeting of the Physics Club will be
at 11:30 pm on Thursday, Sep. 15 in Science 120.
Come for free pizza and to help make plans for the year. The
annual club picture will be taken.
- Possible field trip on Sep. 27-28 to
"Legacy of Einstein", Nobel Conference at Gustavus Adolphus
College in St. Peter, Minnesota.
- Special guest John Rigden will be giving a talk
about Einstein at 11:30 am on Thursday, Oct. 6 in Science 304.
He is the author of a new book callled
"Einstein 1905 - The Standard of Greatness". He will also be
giving a public lecture at the
Bettendorf Public Library at 7:00 pm on the same day. Club
members have been invited to do some physics demos from 6:00 to 7:00
pm at the library. Here is a complete list of activities for

to the University of Wisconsin at Madison, Thursday, April 8, 2004
- All physics majors were invited to Dr. McCart's
retirement party on Saturday, April 17, 2004 in
the Wilson Center. He was presented with his own "I heart McCart"
shirt.
His family and friends came to help him celebrate his 39 years of teaching physics at Augustana.

35th Anniversary Open House - Physics Club members helped with the
telescopes at the observatory on Saturday, May 1, 2004.
- We all learned about superstring theory from the
expert - Dr. Brian Greene, "Breakthrough: Challenging What We Know" -
public lecture on Monday, May 3, 2004 at 7:00 pm in the Olin
Auditorium.
Informal discussion with
Dr. Greene occurred on Tuesday, May
4 at 10:30 am in Science 102. Dr. Greene is author of the book "The
Elegant Universe" and narrated the corresponding program on
PBS.
- All seniors and their families were
invited to a reception on Commencement Day, Sunday, May 23, 2004 from
1:00 to 2:00 pm in Science 120. Dessert was served and a group
picture of the seniors was taken at 1:30 pm. Nobel Laureate, Dr.
Dan Tsui (class of 1961), joined us for
