On Monday, Aug. 21, 2017 there will be a total eclipse of the Sun. The eclipse will be visible to observers in the United States along a narrow band, approximately 73 miles (118 km) wide, that crosses twelve states from Oregon to South Carolina.

These photos were taken and include copies of the PowerPoint slides.

This picture comes from an article in Astronomy magazine that contains 25 facts about the eclipse.

This event is open to members of Sigma Xi, IEEE, other professional societies, and guests.

Reservations.  If you plan to attend, please make your reservation no later than noon on Tuesday, April 11 so we will know the quantity of pizza to order. The pizza menu includes a variety of toppings. The form includes a box called "Special Request" where you can suggest a topping and indicate gluten-free. Beverages are also provided.

Parking is in the lot at the corner of Gaines and Lombard. Here is the campus map.
