Dr. Alan Nelson

Dr. Nelson specializes in communicating NASA Earth Science research results to the general public via print, video and the  Internet. He discussed applications of remote sensing technology, particularly for understanding climate and weather patterns.  He brought a HDTV (high definition television) projector, a HD server, and a Mac laptop to show the images on the big screen.

Dr. Nelson received his bachelor’s degree from Augustana in 1973, majoring in biology and mathematics and secondary school teacher certification. He received an M.S. degree in entomology from the University of Arizona in 1979 and his Ph.D. degree in agronomy from Kansas State University in 1986.
