Welcome to the Home Page of Cecilia Vogel

I am chair of the Department of Physics and Astronomy at Augustana College in Rock Island, IL.  My teaching schedule for fall 2011 includes:

• PHYS 301: Modern Physics
• Intro physics labs
  
• (these are some courses I've taught in the past) 

I did my undergraduate work at Michigan State University, and received a Ph.D. in computational nuclear physics from the University of Minnesota, under Benjamin F. Bayman.

I am the faculty adviser to the physics and engineering club/society of physics students.  Check out the club Web page.  I also have a blog where I post about physics, astronomy, physics club, and physics at Augustana.  I am involved with astronomy activities on campus.  My PhD thesis research field was nuclear physics, but I am currently pursuing research in nonlinear optics.

I am a member of the American Association of Physics Teachers in the Illinois Section, the American Physical Society's Division of Laser Sciences and Forum on Education, and the local chapter of Sigma Xi research society.
