GUIDE TO WEBASSIGN
Important: Before starting WebAssign, quit any browsers that
may be in use (e.g., Netscape, Internet Explorer) and open a new copy.
Also, close the browser when you are finished to prevent losing credit
for the work you have done.
Go to http//www.webassign.net/student.html
Username: Your first and last name, no caps, no spaces, no hyphens; e.g.,
the username for Cecilia Vogel would be ceciliavogel.
Password: In your initial login, use your Augustana I.D. number, leaving off any leading zeroes.

Upon logging in, you will be directed
to register for the course at the web site. In order to register, you
need to either purchase a WebAssign access card from the bookstore or
register online with a credit card. You must register
by the stated deadline or you will not be able to continue to use the WebAssign
program, and you will not be able to get homework credit.
To work on an assignment, click on the name of the assignment you wish
to complete. The assignment includes
a list of questions and boxes for inserting answers.
When you have answered all the questions on an assignment and are ready
to submit your work for grading, click the link Submit for
grading at the bottom of the assignment. Note: To insure
your submission is recorded, wait for a reply from the server. Do not
click more than once on the submit button, since this will result
the waste of one of your allowed submission attempts.
Problems will usually be worth 5-20 points. The point value for
each sub-answer in a problem will be shown in front of the appropriate answer
In general, answers will be graded as correct if they are within 1% of
the expected answer. This is why it is important to use at least 3
figures in your answers, and not round off until your final answer.
Numbers that appear in red in the statement of a problem have been

You should work problems on paper as neatly as possible and keep a copy
for future reference. This will also make it easier to find errors and
correct them if you resubmit your work for grading.

Submit for grading button. Your grade for the assignment will be
the grade received for the last submission of answers by the deadline.
If you decide to log off and resubmit your answers at a later time,
you will see the answers from your last submission when you log on
and bring up the assignment.
