2016 Senior Scientist of the Year
David Renneke received this award for outstanding contributions in the engineering/science professions and service to the Quad Cities community. The award was presented on Feb. 25, 2016 at the annual banquet of the Quad City Engineering and Science Council.
David Renneke has over 38 years of experience as a professor of physics at Augustana College and through his work has taught and inspired hundreds of physics and engineering students. He has served as the Department Chair of Physics and Astronomy, Chair of the Faculty Senate, and Chair of the Division of Natural Sciences. He has taught undergraduate physics courses including advanced lab, electronic circuits, optics, mechanics, thermodynamics and research methods just to name a few.
In addition to his work at Augustana, David has been a consultant to the Strieter Corporation, Deere and Company, the Rock Island Arsenal, and the Bendix Corporation. David has been active and held office in the Rock Island Scott County Science and Math Teachers Association, the Illinois Section of the American Association of Physics Teachers, and the John Deere Chapter of Sigma Xi.
