Electricity and Magnetism

The topics covered in this course include electric charge, electric fields, Gauss' law, electric potential, capacitance, current, resistance, superconductivity, magnetic fields, Ampere's law, Faraday's law, induction, magnetism of matter, electromagnetic oscillations, alternating currents, and Maxwell's equations.

  • ALWAYS READ THE MATERIAL IN A CHAPTER BEFORE IT IS DISCUSSED IN CLASS!
  • Note:  The two Thursday labs (L3 and L4) will not meet on Thursday, Mar. 28, but will meet on Apr. 4.   Lab reports for experiments done last week may be turned in on Apr. 4.
  • The Tuesday lab (L2) will not meet next on Tuesday, Apr. 2.   Lab reports for experiments done on Mar. 26 may be turned in on Apr. 9. 
  • Lab reports for experiments done on Mar. 25 (L1) may be turned in on Apr. 8.
  • Note:  There will not be a help session on Thursday, Mar. 28, because of the Easter break.
  • Discussion will meet on Apr. 2.  There will not be a WebAssign problem set for Mon., Apr. 1.  The next WebAssign problem set will be on Thursday, Apr. 4.  The particular problems will be announced on Apr. 2.
