Holden Village Calendar - Erwin Weber - 1967

There are many opportunities for artistic creation and physical recreation at Holden Village. Craft facilities exist for various interests, from weaving to welding, carpentry to carving, and pottery to painting. Fishermen can pull in trout from the stream and the kitchen will prepare them for them for breakfast. Hikers may choose from 50 miles of wilderness trails taking them across rushing streams, past splendid waterfalls (cascades) for which the mountains are named to any of the five lakes in the area. The more ambitious may choose to explore one of the several glaciers which feed the lakes and streams. Sore muscles are soothed in the Jacuzzi or in the sauna.

My sketch of the Holden Lake was also selected for the Holden Village calendar in 1967. The picturesque Alpine lake mirrors its surrounding area such as the magnificent pines, snow-packed mountains and glaciers in the crystal clear water of lake. It is a rewarding scene after a strenuous hike up the mountain from the village far below. I gave the original Pen and ink sketch with a watercolor wash to the Holden Village Art Collection.
