|Sargent's Chapel Lutheran Church - Sedgewickville, Missouri|
|Pamphlet - Erwin Weber - 1975|
I found out that the congregation at Sargent's Chapel began the German-American settlement in eastern Missouri as early as 1803, one year before formal American possession. Reformed pastors began the work in the region. Lutheran pastors first began work about 1840 as an overflow from Lutheran work which was beginning in Illinois. The Lutheran congregation was organized January 17, 1869. It completed the present building in 1890, replacing the 1855 log cabin structure. Sargent's Chapel, located five miles from Sedgewickville, is one of sixteen active Illinois Synod parishes in Missouri.
