98-minute video

This video is based on my book titled From Luther to 1580 - A pictorial Account, Concordia Publishing House, St. Louis, 1977, 224 pp. The text was prepared by Dr. Ingetraut Ludolphy, who was a university lecturer in Leipzig. She is a theologian, author, a highly respected critic, and one of the most prominent Luther researchers living in Germany. Ludolphy is the author of several books including a definitive biography of Frederick the Wise. She has contributed extensively to the Encyclopedia of the Lutheran Church.

The video was purchased by Aid Association for Lutherans (AAL) which has the exclusive rights to its distribution. AAL is the nation's largest fraternal benefit society, organized to enable Lutherans and their families to help themselves and others. It provides its more than 1.5 million members, located in every state, life health and disability income insurance and retirement products. Its members are also offered volunteer opportunities to help others in their community.

AAL has prepared a booklet for the video containing topics for discussion. The text has been approved by the various synods of the Lutheran Church, including the Missouri Synod, the ALC and the LCA. The video consists of 280 slides and has a program time of 98 minutes. It is divided into four sections of approximately 22 minutes each to be shown on Sundays during October, Reformation month. In addition, AAL has distributed the video to its various branch offices, for the use of their clients. It has also given copies of the video free of charge to Lutheran churches, schools, and seminaries to be used as a definitive text for teaching "Luther and the Reformation Period of the 16th century".

The video is available by contacting Aid Association for Lutherans 4321 North Ballard Road, Appleton, WI 54919-0001.
