In 1967, I made this pen and ink sketch of East Hall with an ink wash during the years I shared an office in the building with Richard Wartmann, a professor of German and Russian at the college. Wartmann and I received Master's degrees from Wayne State University, Detroit, Michigan. I came to Augustana College in 1962, Wartmann came in 1967 and died in 1988. His wife, Anna, came to Augustana in 1969 and became a professor of Chemistry. She retired in 1995. I presented the sketch of East Hall to Dr. J. Thomas Tredway as a gift. Recently, he gave the sketch to the College Collection.
