Augustana Physics Outreach Program (APOP) is a group that brings physics to the Quad City Area community. Our goal is to show the fun and interesting aspects of physics and how it relates to different topics in science by using demonstrations. These demonstrations are interactive getting as many people hands-on with the demos making a great experience for students, parents, and teachers.  APOP is part of the Augustana Physics Club which have two Physics Open Houses during the year where we present a huge variety of demonstrations which some may not be able to take on the road, and the Astronomy Open Houses where the John Deere Planetarium and Carl Gamble Observatory is open to observe the night time sky with it 14-inch reflector telescope and planetarium shows, both are open to the public and are free. If interested in attending these events more information can be found on the Augustana Astronomy page and the Augustana Physics Club page.

APOP make trips to area schools every year to bring our demonstrations straight to the classroom, where the young audience can enjoy physics demos in their own school environment. We have demonstrations for all types of science topics and can bring specific demonstrations for a certain area that the teacher has been teaching in class. APOP has our own line-up of demos that spread through basic physics topics and are always a great entertainment for students, teachers, and parents. All demonstrations are performed by trained physics club members so safety is the most important thing when presenting our demos to anyone. APOP is all based on volunteers from the physics club who are enthusiastic about showing the exciting art of physics.
