GUIDE TO WEBASSIGN
Important: Before starting WebAssign, quit any browsers that
may be in use (e.g., Netscape, Internet Explorer) and open a new copy.
Also, close the browser when you are finished to prevent losing credit
for the work you have done.
Logging In: Open your Web browser and enter the following Web
address
http//www.webassign.net/student.html
Enter the following information:
Username: Your first and your last name, no spaces, no hyphens e.g.,
the username for Emily Coed would be emilycoed.
Institution: augustana
Password: In your initial login, use your Augustana I.D. number. (Once
logged in, you can change you password.)
Click Login.
Upon logging in, you will be presented with a screen with your name at
the top along with information about the course. You will also be directed
to register for the course at the web site. In order to register, you will
need to purchase a WebAssign access card, available at the register at the Runestone Bookstore
in the College Center. This card will have
an access code that you will need to complete your registration. You must
register by the posted deadline or you will not be able to continue to use
the WebAssign program.
The note about registering for the course will be followed by a list
of Current Assignments. The summary of each assignment on
the list will include
-
the name or title of the assignment,
-
a description of the assignment and the score received.
-
the due date and time which define the last moment that you can
submit work on the assignment for grading.
To work on an assignment, click on the name of the assignment you wish
to complete. (It is not necessary that you complete the assignment Introduction
to WebAssign.) You will receive the assignment – including
a list of questions and boxes for inserting answers.
General Comments:
-
Each assignment will generally be worth the same amount (100 points).
-
Numerical answers will be graded as correct if they are within 1% of
the expected answer. This is why it is important to use at least 3 significant
figures in your answers, and not round off until your final answer.
-
Numerical answers may not contain commas, equal signs, or units.
Expected units are already written next to the answer box. Answers may
be submitted in several formats including fractions and scientific notation.
For example, if the answer is "one over sixty-four", your response may
be in any of the following forms: 1/64, 0.015625, 0.0156, .0156, 1.56e-2,
or 1.56E-2.
When you have answered all the questions on an assignment and are ready
to submit your work for grading, click the link Submit for
grading at the bottom of the assignment. Note: To insure that
your submission is recorded, wait for a reply from the server. Do not
click more than once on the submit button.
